John Lees has spent over 20 years training recruiters to be better interviewers and more effective selectors.
Somewhere in the process he became equally interested in the people sitting on the other side of the desk: career changers.
John is now one of the UK's best known career strategists and writers. He has helped people from a huge variety of backgrounds with difficult career decisions, and developed a wide range of career breakthrough tools, some of which are included in How To Get A Job You'll Love and Take Control of Your Career.
A graduate of the universities of Cambridge, London and Liverpool, John is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development, and qualified in the use of psychometric tests (BPS Intermediate Level B). He was made a Career Management Fellow by the Institute of Career Certification International. He is retained as a Senior Associate by Career Management Consultants Ltd (CMC).
John Lees is a frequent keynote speaker on topics relating to career change and personal development. He is a regular contributor to The Times, Guardian, Personnel Today and People Management and has also featured in Coaching At Work, Management Today, Personnel Today, The Sunday Times, The Independent, Psychologies, Cosmopolitan, Daily Express, SHE, RED, and Marie Claire. John broadcasts widely and was co-presenter on BBC’s Live & Learn ‘Back to Work’ programme.
John is an ordained Anglican priest and serves as volunteer clergy in the Diocese of Chester. He lives in Cheshire with his wife, the children's writer Jan Dean, and their two sons.

For over 15 years John Lees has been invited to act as an expert witness in civil litigation matters, and has provided hundreds of reports relating to loss of earnings, careers, recruitment patterns and labour markets, drawing upon his experience in the following fields: recruitment and selection, staff supply, career development, job search, return-to-work patterns for disabled job seekers.
John is frequently asked to give evidence in armed forces cases. He has trained personnel from both the RAF and Royal Navy in staff selection techniques and has run resettlement counselling for Army personnel. He was the joint author of the Careers Advisers Initial Training Manual for the Royal Navy Careers Service.
